First of all, I'm sorry I recently opened a new topic on this matter; somehow I missed this existing one.
I have been lobbying for more sub-categories for several reasons:
1) The forum (and please correct me if I'm mistaken) originates from
Watchmasters original website, based on a fetish for especially G-Shock/Baby-G and cuff watches. But watch fetish spreads over ALL types of watches. As an example, for me personally, those types of watches does nothing for me, and I know I'm not alone.
2) The stats for the forum clearly shows that a few more sub-categories wouldn't hurt. The two subforums "Metal" (an extremely broad category) and "Miscelaneous" (even more wide spanning) has around
10.500 posts combined. All other subforums (not including "XXX") combined has around
3.200 posts. It is indisputable that watches NOT already categorized by brand, are more popular.
3) Using the search feature, for example "Rolex" returns 650 hits, (199 alone for "Daytona"!), "Guess" returns 323 hits and "Cartier" 168 hits. These numbers are for posts where the word is actually included in the post; it does not include comments to these posts which doesn't include the actual word, so it is fair to assume an actual sub-category for any of these examples would have a lot more
posts than actual hits.
4) There are a number of "non-brand" related fetishes revealed on the forum, including "Righty's" (watch worn on the right arm), "Insiders" (watch worn on the inside of the wrist), "Multiple" (wearing more than one watch) and so on and so forth. You would please a lot of users making a category, or separate categories, for these types of fetishes.

Not me
Rest asure, I acknowledge this would be a nightmare... but is it really neccesary? Why not think forward instead, the creation of new categories would be an asset from day one, even if existing topics weren't sorted. Besides, there must be a few of us that would be willing to give a helping hand. I would.
So once again I ask of you to reconsider this. And if I may, allow me to suggest the following new sub-categories:
"Rolex"
"Cartier"
"Toy-Watch and similar" (wide-spanning)
"Guess" (seems like a forum favorite)
"Michael Kors" (quite a lot of attention lately)
"Non-Brand related" (Righty, Inside, Multiple etc)
Thank you.
